Kung Hei Fat Choi!

It’s the Year of the Dragon so we’re expecting an intense year ahead… but what a year to follow!

Rockin’ at The People’s Party Singapore
To mark the end of the Year of the Rabbit, we joined the fast paced crew at The People’s Party down in Singapore to play at the last leg of their festival tour. We had a blast at the festival, playing alongside a whole heap of amazing acts and eating our way through the hawker markets of Sing… mmm!

We played the debut of one of our new songs, which went down pretty well. We were told our songs are getting more “epic”:- sounds good to us.

Oh gosh… and we forgot to tell you about Clockenflap
We played to an amazing crowd on a beautifully sunny December day – what an unforgettable experience. For those of you who missed this wicked festival, here’s a quick summary: two days of incredible local and international music set to the backdrop of one of the worlds most iconic skylines! Love It!

Plus we rocked TST with a show for HKU later in December and said goodbye to one of the best music venues in Hong Kong, the old Hidden Agenda, with a great show on New Year’s Eve. Never fear though, Hidden Agenda is back up and running in a new, cool venue.

So What Next?
Well, we’ve decided it’s time to settle down and finish the whole bunch of songs that we’ve had waiting in the wings. We’ll be underground for a while, but it’ll all be worth it when we pop back up in a few months with some more new stuff. Watch this space… the exciting year of the dragon will bring good things from Noughts and Exes…

A NEW YEAR, A NEW SONG

Happy New Year folks!
It’s been an incredible 2011 and we’re stupidly excited for what 2012 may bring!
thanks so much everyone for joining us on the ride so far.
it’s gonna be one hell of a ride!

From Toronto to Hong Kong

Ola Noughts & Exes Fans!

It feels like it’s been so long since we’ve been able to sit down and write to you. Now we finally have some time to sit back and relax. Ahhh…. that’s better.

So what have we been up to, you ask?

On the milky way... in Toronto?

Canada
Well, we had a great time touring in Canada and making some new friends in Toronto, Montreal and Quebec. We had a great show at the Envol et MacAdam festival and met bands from across the world. We also played a couple of intimate gigs in Toronto with two great bands, Apollo Effect and the Urban Preacher.

Two Wins and a Gids by Niagara Falls

Hong Kong
Since being back, we’ve been ultra busy what with the People Mountain People Sea Rock show at the Y Theatre, the TVB Music Battle performance, opening for the most excellent Two Gallants at one of our top HK venues Hidden Agenda and playing outdoors in the wonderful new amphitheatre in Stanley Plaza for the Sounds by the Sea festival.

Mmm breakfast....

Next Up
And just when we thought we’d be able to put out little feet up for the Christmas hols, there’s a whole lot of festivals and gigs who need some Noughts and Exes lovin’… there Clockenflap this Sunday, a couple of Shenzhen festivals, a great little show we have planned for HKU and our last ever show at Hidden Agenda. Catch us if you can!!!

THE LATEST NOUGHTIE NEWS

Hey there Noughtie fans!
We have a load of exciting news to share with everyone this month! Here it comes:

TOURING
We’ve just got back to Hong Kong after 2 awesome little tours. Firstly we played MIDI festival in Rizhao, China, and then we did a tour of Singapore and Malaysia ending in a night-time performance at BAYBEATS festival on the Singapore waterfront!
MIDI was incredible and the Chinese audience was amazing. You can see highlights in our video journal here

As for Singapore, keep your eyes open as the next tour journal is coming soon!

SIGNING
We’re SUPER thrilled to tell you that we’ve recently signed to US label Spectra Records for distribution and licensing of our album ‘The Start Of Us’ in North America!!
Record label! US!! Crazy!
This means that the album will be launched there early next year, and also that we will have Spectra’s help to tour the US in support of the album. Which is incredible!
We are, however, still an independent band and retain full creative control over our music… BUT we also get the support of a team of dedicated and knowledgeable folk who believe in the commercial potential of our album!
We hope North America is ready, ‘cos Noughts and Exes is going global!

GIGGING
We’re honoured to have been invited to play at FullCup again for their 8th birthday!! FullCup is a funky little café which supports Hong Kong music with a passion, and it’s a great place for a stripped-down acoustic set.
However, this show will be special for another reason… this will be Kez’s last performance with Noughts and Exes!
She gets married the day after the show (!) and is leaving HK with her new husband for pastures new. So we are going to celebrate the last 2 years and send her off in style. If you’re in HK and available, come and join us! details here
As well as being Kez’s final show, FullCup will be our last gig in Hong Kong for a while as we take a break for a couple of months.

Partially this is because we’re heading to Canada at the end of September. We have been invited play in the Envol et Macadam festival in Quebec, after which we’ll do a short tour around nearby cities to introduce Canadians to our music!

But it’s also because we’re planning something very big and exciting for our HK fans in November… can’t tell you more than that right now! Stay tuned for more news…

PHEW. Lots of news in the past few weeks!
